Retirement plans have not always been easily accessible for small businesses. In the 1970s retirement plans were not consistently regulated to protect retirement funds for employees. Even after much needed regulations were implemented in the early 1980s, small businesses still didn’t have access to affordable plan products and retirement administration systems.
